These athletes
continue to inspire our fitness enthusiasts with their technical
excellence, spirited drive and collective good will.
A four event National Master's champion
(Indianapolis, 1994), Owen McGonagle has trained with Alex for the
last three years. In his first ever multisport competition last
August, Owen won the swim event of the Massachusetts State Triathlon
in Sharon, MA. Owen also won the Save the Bay open ocean swim in
Gloucester last summer and he continues to be an inspiring presence in
the Masters. Look for Owen in lane 3.
Greg Allen (left) was a Northern California County Champion (200
Breast). He has trained with us for just over a year. Bill Paine, a
seasoned coach in his own right, is another top performing regular in
Alex's Masters. His well cultivated technical facility and
relentless drive inspire considerable group workout momentum. Known
to occasionally hop lanes in the middle of intervals, his example
fires many spirits at the Mason Masters.
Mark (above) joins triathletes Vinu Malik, Terry McKeon, and Chris
Ramsey for swim training in Alex's Masters. As active mult-sport
competitors, they receive individualized tactical skills instruction
and race preparation offered to anyone requesting the Meta-Terra
Triathlon Swim Training regimen. Their workouts are conceived to
accomplish specific conditioning and appropriate technical facility
within a set time frame. Mark and his Meta-Terra Swim friends Vinu
Malik, Chris Ramsey, and Terry McKeon have seen excellent training
results in the pool and in the swim events at races in Florida, New
Hampshire, and Massachusetts.
Though we do not have a picture handy, our friend Joanna O'Kelly
holds the 500 free state high school record (MA). She swam with us
through the summer and is rumored to rejoin us over the holiday season
when she returns from Clemson where she attends competes on a full
swimming scholarship.
Doug Bosley was a very strong N.C.A.A. competitor. You will often
find him in lane three. Heather has competed in triathlons and other
competitive events around New England.
Mark is a pentathlete in training and an Olympics 2000 hopeful. In just eight months, he has progressed from an occasional swim enthusiast to a keen 300 meter competitor. In addition to epee training with Alex, Mark balances running, equestrian, and pistol shooting practice with a full time job and care of one year old daughter, Emily.
Joanne has been a competitive runner and swimmer for several years. She trains primarily for fitness and fires our workouts with her high spirits and affable humor.
David Riley swam competitively in high school and in college. A
regular member of the Masters, he gets plenty motivated from the
driving example of his co-training internationally ranked triathletes,
national and regional champion Masters, and the World Champion coach
at the helm.
David O'Brian and Phil Wood, like many others in the Masters,
enjoy the programs mix of world-class training and easy comraderie.
Though Phil has recently relocated to London, he will take advantage
of e-mail communication to preserve the continuity of his
individualized swim training regimens.
