| RETURN TO THE TOP OF ALEX'S ATHLETIC PROGRAMS |
Alex's workouts are commonly described as "high quality"
training regimens strategically integrating a mix of medium and hard
work set rotations based on formulations of 25's, 50's, 75's,
100's, 125's, 150's, 200's, 250's, 300's, and
400's) , short I.M. yardage, short rests, technical drills and
varying sustained free style work (e.g. 700 to 1200 yards).
"This training compels a heightened awareness of regulated energy
expenditure, execution of technique, and metabolic function over a
sixty minute period. The variation of work rates, intervals, rest
lengths, and drill implementation has produced swim event p.r.'s for
several of the world's top multi-sport professionals. Much of this
fitness and performance excitement is a first-hand experience for
Alex's novices and competitive amateurs."

Location
Masters Swimming has recently relocated to the Mason Pool, next to the Mason elementary school, at 159 Norfolk Street, (thirty yards in from Magazine Street and about 4/5 of a mile from the Boston Medical Center, our former location). Workouts
Alex's training accommodates a range of professional, amateur, and fitness agendas. Swimmers at all levels, including full time professionals, amateur multi-sport competitors, as well as beginners and novices, have shown marked gains in competitive performance, technical ability, and general fitness. Alex's strategically orchestrated ladder/interval/distance variations implemented in controlled sequence, week by week, are administered with careful measure to a range of individual technical levels. "His professional vigilance has made all the difference in
the world."
Though many fitness enthusiasts simply enjoy the professional
refinement and healthy after-effects of Alex's workouts, one-on-one
technical coaching and race preparation are frequent features of
Alex's Masters' training.
Since Alex began coaching his evening Masters', elite
professional triathletes and pentathletes (including world, national,
and Olympic champions) have often trained side-by-side with
competitive amateurs and fitness enthusiasts.
Recently, multi-sport competitor Joanne Barry trained with
professional triathlete Bogdan Mikhalus, a six time National
Pentathlete Champion and the Ukraine's #1 ranked triathlete (with
wins in the '95 Florida Long Distance Challenge, the '94
Liechtenstein International Sprint, and second place finishes in the
Australian Long Course Championships and the ITU Gatorade Sprint
Series, Miami).
Though the following workout should give prospective Masters' candidates a glimpse of Alex's training orientation, warm-ups, I.M.s and middle set, pull, and kick yardage are frequently measured to the individual. (For example, beginners would get a close initial "look-over" and might proceed with a mix of specific stroke adjustment and reach exercises, technical drills for breathing and body alignment in the water, light kick yardage, and modified intervals.) For many of us, this is what happened Wed, Oct. 22nd Schedule
